CADC was among the first Democratic Clubs to endorse Lateefah Simon ahead of the Primary Election held in March 2024, and following a forum last fall featuring all the candidates for U.S. Congress, District 12.
“Lateefah’s answers and understanding of the issues facing the East Bay were exactly why she earned the Club’s endorsement,” stated CADC Vice President for Activities Zac Bowling. “We are confident that she will represent us well in Washington, DC. Lateefah has a long resume of making change, from her dedication to justice reform to women’s rights as well as understanding how addressing infrastructure and climate change are integral to the future of the East Bay.”

Earlier this year, CADC hosted an endorsement forum on the recall of Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price, featuring speakers from Save Alameda for Everyone (SAFE), the organization leading the recall effort, and DA Price and the Protect the Win team. Following the meeting, active members voted to oppose the recall and endorsed voting no. Ballot measures require 60 percent of votes to earn our Club’s endorsement.
“The Alameda County voters made a choice in 2022 and chose Pamela Price as their District Attorney, the first African American woman to the role,” said Hoskin. “The City of Alameda Democratic Club feels a continued commitment to DA Price’s vision of reforming the justice system, has concerns about the financial investment and practice of overturning the voters’ choice so soon after DA Price started her term, and recognizes the importance of public safety in our community and the many factors that contribute to it. For these reasons and more, CADC urges Alamedans to vote 'no' on the recall this November."

CADC hosted local candidate forums on September 11 and October 9, including Q&As with the candidates for Alameda City Council and AUSD Board of Education. Only candidates who are registered Democrats were eligible to participate and needed to secure 55 percent of our membership vote to earn the CADC endorsement.
“The City of Alameda Democratic Club voted and selected these candidates based on their expertise and plans to address important issues in our community, including housing, climate change, local business support, education, and public safety,” shared Meredith Hoskin, President of the City of Alameda Democratic Club. “We are the local organization representing the Democratic Party and feel these candidates best represent of our party’s values and priorities.”
The City Council forum featured three candidates, including Greg Boller, Trish Herrera-Spencer, and Michele Pryor. Thushan Amarasiriwardena was unable to participate due to his job as a federal employee and the Hatch Act. CADC members also heard 2-minute statements from the candidates for BART Board, EBRPD, and EBMUD. The AUSD Board forum included Joyce Boyd, Meleah Hall, and Jennifer Williams. Ryan Lalonde participated representing the Heather Little campaign. Links to watch both forums are available below.
