2025 Proposed Bylaw Changes
The CADC Executive Board has proposed amendments to our Bylaws and Constitution to strengthen officer roles, ground voting membership in Alameda, and modernize communications. These changes will be voted on at the October 8, 2025, 7 p.m. General Membership Meeting.

Proposed Amendments
1. Officer Structure & Extend Term
- Replace the position of Secretary with a new Communications Officer, responsible for maintaining the website, social media, and membership communications.
- Standardize officer titles throughout the Constitution and Bylaws for consistency.
- Detail the duties of the Vice President of Membership.
2. Membership Categories
- Extend eligibility for membership to:
- 17-year-olds who will be 18 by the next general election
- Immigrants on a pathway to citizenship (consistent with California Democratic Party standards)
- Voting Membership shall be limited to Democrats who live, work, own a business, or are enrolled as students in the City of Alameda.
- Supporting Membership shall be available to Democrats who are allies of Alameda but do not meet the Alameda connection requirement.
- Supporting Members shall enjoy all privileges except voting rights.
3. Financial Authority
- Authorize the Executive Board to approve expenditures up to $1,000 without requiring a vote of the General Membership.
4. Modernization and Clean-up
- Revise language for clarity, grammar, and consistency, without altering substantive meaning.
- Codify use of modern official club communications platforms to improve transparency and member engagement.
